Your rights regarding maternity pay and leave will depend on how long you have been employed and also the type of employment you are in.

Being unemployed, self-employed or employed by a company or an agency will affect your maternity entitlement.

It is also worth noting some companies have their own additional maternity policies, so you should check this out with your employer as well.
