Adding salt to baby food

Why is it so important to avoid adding salt to baby food?
Babies need only a tiny amount of salt that they will be able to get directly from naturally occurring sources in their food and milk. Too much salt in a baby’s first year can damage their kidneys, which is why it’s so important to keep your baby’s salt intake as low as possible. Never add salt to your baby’s food and always read the labels of any baby food you buy. Heinz promises you that none of their baby foods contain added salt.
