First weaning foods

What are suitable first baby weaning foods?
Most people start weaning by giving baby rice and gradually adding fruit, vegetables and meat, but there isn’t a set order for introducing solids.

  • When you introduce baby cereals for the first time, make them a little thinner than usual so it’s easier for your baby to swallow
  • Don’t assume that because you don’t like a particular food your baby won’t like it too
  • Most babies love flavours such as apple, pear, banana, potato, carrot, and sweet potato
  • Don’t add salt to weaning foods as your baby doesn’t need it and too much will put a strain on the kidneys
